Whistler Learning Centre announces Chainsaw Handling course on May 5

The Whistler Learning Centre are delighted to bring a 1 day 8 hour chainsaw handling course to Whistler on May 5. This course is a must for anyone who uses a chainsaw at work or in their back yard. Participants will learn how to safely handle a chainsaw, starting with a classroom session before heading into the field for practical exercises. The course will be delivered by instructor John Courchesne, who has been teaching chainsaw safety for 10 years and has over 30,000 hours of chainsaw experience after starting out in the forest industry 39 years ago.

Executive Director, Suki Cheyne, explains how this course demonstrates the Whistler Learning Centre’s commitment to partner with local stakeholders to facilitate educational learning opportunities in Whistler. “Initial research indicated that there was a need for this safety focused course within the local community and work force. The Whistler Learning Centre then sourced a certified instructor, liaised with the Cheakamus Community Forest to find a suitable location locally for the practical component, and sourced a classroom nearby in the newly renovated Whistler First Aid offices in Function Junction.”

The May 5 course has just 2 places remaining on April 24. Interested participants are encouraged sign up ASAP. The full course description and registration link can be found here:
