Lil̓wat Nation Storytelling – connecting individuals and communities to their place and time

Through storytelling, Nesa7 Thomas Williams will share the important history and cultural practices of the Lílwat Nation in the Whistler area. Thomas will also share some songs and hand-drumming as part of the presentation.

About the presenter:

Thomas Williams is Lil’wat and has lived in the Mount Currie area for 44 of his 48 years of his life. His ancestral name is Nesa7 (pronounced Nisha), his father is Ha7ya (pronounced Hatya) Burt Williams and his mother is Saopalaz (pronounced Supola) Lucille Joseph. He is currently employed by the Lílwat Nation Lands and Resources Department as the Cultural Research Technician. He began this role in 2022, after his Uncle Lex Joseph retired from the same position after 30+ years. Thomas brings many years of cultural teachings to his role, is an avid hunter and storyteller, and a former Youth Ambassador for both the Lil̓wat Nation and SLCC.
