Emergency First Aid – February Cohort

February 20 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This one-day course combines first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) content, along with other important emergency skills. Students will learn to prevent, recognize, and prepare for different types of emergencies.

Course Content:
• Preventing and preparing to respond to emergencies
• The EMS system (Emergency Medical Services) – when and how to access help
• Airway and breathing emergencies (choking, asthma, anaphylactic shock)
• Circulation emergencies (life threatening bleeding, heart attack, stroke, shock)
• Respiratory and cardiac arrest
• CPR and AED’s
• Wound care
• Workplace documentation and how to complete a first aid record
• The Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) and safety data sheets
• Roles and responsibility of a first aid attendant in the workplace
Provided Materials:
• Online e-manual (comprehensive PDF guide)
• Digital certification card

Certification:
Successful completion of this course will result in a 3-year certification in Emergency First Aid, CPR Level C or Health Care Providers (HCP), and AED.
This course is equivalent to OFA 1 and is accepted by WorkSafeBC. It includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Completion Requirements:
Participants must be present for the entirety of the course, participate in skills demonstrations, and pass the written exam with a minimum 75% passing grade.
