Director, Member at Large
Sue began her working career as an Occupational Therapist in her homeland, Australia. Following this career path for close to ten years in Canada the entrepreneurial urge overcame her health care focus and she started and successfully operated boutique restaurants and catering businesses in Vancouver for many years. In the late eighties, together with her husband she bought the Grocery Store in Whistler, a highly successful retail grocery business. Ten years later the company opened a second, equally successful location in Pemberton. Following almost 30 years operating the Whistler business the Adams recently sold to one of their employees. Sue’s primary focus now is managing partner of the Pemberton Valley Supermarket.
She serves on the Executive of a number of not for profit arts and cultural boards both in Vancouver and Whistler. Currently Sue is a Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees of the Audain Art Museum in Whistler, Vice Chair of the Vancouver Civic Theatres Board, Vice Chair of Women’s Enterprise Centre and a member of the BC Small Business Round Table. In 2007 Sue was awarded the Business in Vancouver, Influential Women in Business Award. She has been recognised in Whistler for her contribution to small business and the Arts, she is the recipient of Citizen of the Year, The Business and the Arts Award and most recently received the Freedom of the Municipality Award.
