Prajakta Nigam

Prajakta is an economist, public speaker, and author of two books. Ranging from technology to international development, she has been on a fascinating journey that spans industries, countries and careers.

An alumna of the London School of Economics, in the aftermath of the 2007 financial crisis, she worked with three reserve banks on three different continents to help rebuild financial stability. Soon after, she launched her tech startup for mothers and moved to Toronto. Working in AI and technology policy and watching her children develop, sparked her curiosity about how human minds learn. So, with her husband, she decided to “unschool” her daughters over one-and-a-half years through travel.

After years of living and working internationally, she is now perched on a mountain, writing about her family’s unschooling experiment. When not writing, she can be found hiking in the mystical forests of Whistler or discussing public policy with her classmates in the Harvard Kennedy School’s Public Leadership program. A lifelong learner herself, Prajakta brings her unique background and fresh ideas to her new community in Whistler through the Whistler Institute.
