Invasive-Free Certification Course
August 27 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT
An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until September 24, 2022
The Invasive-Free Certification Program, hosted by the Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC), is a video-based, interactive course that provides an introduction to invasive species. We cover the following topics:
* Species identification – ensuring products purchased and grown are not invasive
* Site & species-appropriate control methods – understanding the most current and effective strategies
* Disposal practices – ensuring that invasive plant seeds or plant parts are properly disposed of
The goal of this program is to integrate targeted invasive species management into the practices of horticulture, landscaping, and earth-moving companies serving the Sea to Sky Corridor, and recognize those companies contributing to stopping the spread of invasive species. Companies that become “Invasive-Free Certified” qualify for reduced tipping fees at the Squamish Landfill, among other benefits.
This self-paced online course only takes 2-2.5 hours to complete, and costs $35 per participant.
